Soccer!!

Liam had been involved in gymnastics at Chow's Gym for the last year. He enjoyed it but as much as Liam loves to run, we thought soccer might be more his speed. Aunt Angela and Aunt Sandy were more than excited to sign him up. They will take him shopping today, as I have no idea what a soccer player needs. He starts on Friday and I'm sure we'll have more blog posts about that in the future. Stay tuned!

Sean Speaks

I've been somewhat worried for sometime about Sean's lack of speaking. But I'm reminded about how Liam usually speaks for him and my brother was the same way; I always talked for him so he didn't need to. Thankfully, Sean understands what we're saying to him "Get your shoes" etc and he does use a few signs "all done" to let us know what he wants. He says Mama, Uh-Oh, Ma'am, quacks like a duck when we ask him to say Duck and now he says Elmo. We rarely watch Sesame Street but he LOVES it. Scratch that, he LOVES Elmo...and that annoys my husband. But the kid likes what he likes.

Here's a short video of Sean talking...enjoy!

Sick day? Not for me...

I'll admit it. When I turned 30, I felt it. I feel it. I'm not as young as I used to be. And I think I overdid it at Adventureland on Saturday. It probably didn't help that it was rainy and cold. I'm sure the jerky rollercoasters didn't help either. But I'm sore. Every muscle hurts. My hair hurts. My eyelashes hurt. And no, I'm not being dramatic.

I wasn't feeling well yesterday and managed to get a nap. But Dave was out the door early this morning leaving me with the boys. When I did work outside of the home, this would be one of those days where I'd say, "Take them to school, I'm calling in." but I don't have that luxury any more.

Moms don't get sick days. Liam doesn't have preschool today so it might be a very occupied "Musical Monday". I hope they enjoy them...because I need to rest.

Come On Over to Adventureland...You're Gonna Have a Rain Filled Day!

Every two years my dad gets free tickets to Adventureland through his employer, Pella. This has been a family tradition since I was in high school. It was Sean and Brendan's first time to Adventureland. Liam had been looking forward to it for months so when we got up Saturday morning and saw it was raining, we were bummed. Mom wasn't sure if she was coming and Tom's clan might not make it either.

I finally convinced mom that they should come and Tom's family decided to come too. Even though it was raining, we all had a great time. It was a little chilly but we dressed for the occasion. It was also "Nickelodeon's Day of Play" so we actually participated in it!

You can hear the raindrops hitting the umbrella, but since most of the kid rides are covered, they were happy little guys!
The boys riding on the carousel  and Riding with our cousins.

Liam even rode the Dragon and the Outlaw, two big rollercoasters...we were amazed he was tall enough to go on them...he didn't know what to expect with the Dragon but enjoyed it.

We are already looking forward to going again!

Sean's First Pokey's Caramel Apple

It's officially fall in western Iowa when Pokey's Caramel Apples are for sale. I remember, being a little girl and going to Pokey's Restaurant in Carroll. All of the caramel apples were lined up on the counter. The BEST caramel apple you can imagine...times 1000. So every fall, we head back to Glidden and check Hy-Vee (Pokey's Restaurant has since closed but they still make the apples) in Carroll for the best caramel apples.

Sean is old enough now to enjoy one. I made sure to take video of it. He's hooked.
